Feedback and Recognition are crucial elements of employee management and development. Some managers are under the assumption that those should happen once or twice per year as part of the ongoing organizational process. This is a wrong assumption and I can emphasize this enough.


If you wait for the performance review process to give your employees this crucial input they will not necessarily understand what you mean or won’t be able to act upon it, as it will most likely be about something that is already done, and can only be implemented in the next time they will encounter the same situation.


Feedback should be an ongoing thing. Your employees need to understand what went well and what not, where this can improve, and what they did that is great. Ongoing feedback can help them learn and improve, it creates transparency and helps to avoid missed expectations This will help their personal and professional development more than you can imagine.
